Introdução
The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is essentially determinate by atypical social interactions, categorized in diferente degrees, but there are characteristics that can help outline the diagnosis
Objetivo
With the viralization of online posts about “autistic behaviour”, it is essential delimit, based on empiric and cientific data, the most common characteristics associiated of childrem with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and avoid the propagation of stereotypes whitout empiric comprovation. For that, this study aims to list some of these characteristics found in cientific data base
Método
A systematic review was made on eletronic data bases of Pubmed.The terms: autism, neurology, spectrum disorders, infants, children, pediatric and kids were used, combined using the boolean operators (OR and AND). From this Search, 72 articles were extracted , form these 41 were excluded based on eligibility criteria, such as: tratement enfoque, causes, intervention and not human studies
Resultados
Of the 31 articles selected, 25 provided data for listing comorbidities and chacteristcs frequently associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The most prevalente was sleep disturbance, such as insomnia, present in 5 articles. Beside this condition, epilepsy and intelectual disability were covered in tree articles each, typing for second place. Futhermore, were listed in only one of the selected articles: sensory hypo or hyperresponsivity, time competence compromissed and gastrointestinal dysfunction, sensory symptons and resticted range of interest
Conclusão
It can be concluded that, empirically, the most commun condition associated with Autism, based on Pubmed articles, is sleep disturbance, related as difficulties both initiating and maintaining, witch can prejudicated cognition ande stress levels. Besides that, it is notable that other commorbities are still being researched, and this should not be neglected since it can help with the diagnosis and improve the quality of life of thousands of kids.
